Christmas 2009

Christmas was coming up and I always wanted to try to make a Gingerbread House, so I took up the challenge and here is was a came up with:

It was great fun to make but took a while to do the finishing with the icing. Maybe I will have another go at it this Christmas...

Hello Kitty

Shortly after my first homemade cake, my niece's 6th birthday was coming up and I thought it could be fun to surprise her with a nice cake. She really likes Hello Kitty, so I wanted to make her a Kitty cake. It was a great hit and she gave me a big smile and a big hug :-)

The cake is a chocolate cake with chocolate butter icing. The Kitty's face and paws are made from marcipan and her dress, eyes and nose are made from M&M's.

It all started when...

It all started when I decided to make a birthday cake for my boyfriend's dad's birthday. He turned 70 and I wanted to make a special cake for the party. This is what I came up with:

The number 7 is a chocolate cake with 70 M&M's (I thought that 70 candles was a bit over the top... and the kids loved the sweets!) The number 0 is a classic Danish layered cake with custard and jam filling. The flags are the English and Danish flags. English because my boyfriend's father is English and a Danish flag because he came to spend his birthday with us here in Denmark. In Denmark the flag is very important when celebrating - especially birthdays parties.

The cake was a great hit and after that I was hooked!

Since then I want to make and create cakes any opportunity I get. I have now decided to share my passion with you, so hope you will enjoy it :-)
